New Centerville magistrate: March 15

The following preliminary hearing is scheduled before District Judge Sandra Stevanus in New Centerville:


Two southern Somerset County men have been charged with a burglary in Black Township. George Smith, 39, Meyersdale, and Joshua Hoover, 38, Kelly Drive, Garrett, were charged March 6 and Friday, respectively, with second-degree felony burglary, second-degree felony criminal trespass, criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. According to two probable-cause affidavits, the men broke into William Richter Lumber in Black Township on the evening of Feb. 10 or the morning of the following day and stole three chain saws and an air gun. Smith was arraigned March 6 before District Judge Douglas McCall Bell in Meyersdale and was sent to the Somerset County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond. Hoover was arraigned Friday before Bell and was sent to the county jail in lieu of a $2,000 bond. A preliminary hearing for the men is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. Thursday.
