Glory 20, Galaxy 17
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) _ Jerry Kauric’s 46-yard field goal as time expired gave the Ohio Glory its first-ever WLAF victory, 20-17 over Frankfurt on Saturday night before 41,853 at Ohio Stadium.
The Glory, in its first year in the WLAF, had lost its first six games. The Galaxy lost its fifth game in a row after opening the season with a pair of victories.
Robbie Keen had kicked a 45-yard field goal to give Frankfurt a 17-17 tie with 44 seconds left.
But the Glory came back with a 76-yard drive. Quarterback Pat O’Hara hit two passes for 34 yards and Frankfurt’s Kevin Wolfolk was called for a personal foul for slapping the helmet of O’Hara on an incomplete pass, moving the ball to the 28. Kauric, whose 24-yard field goal earlier in the final quarter back put Ohio ahead 17-14, then kicked the game-winner.
Chris Cochrane, just three weeks ago the Glory’s practice-team quarterback, threw two TD passes against his former teammates.
The large crowd was treated to a concert by the Beach Boys before the game.
