Sparks police shoot, kill armed robbery suspect

SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — Police investigating a robbery in a Sparks neighborhood shot and killed a suspect they say brandished a gun when they confronted him.

Two Sparks police officers have been placed on administrative leave while Reno police and Washoe County sheriff’s deputies conduct an investigation in accordance with the regional Officer-Involved Shooting protocol.

Reno police say the officers came across a man who matched the description of the robbery suspect shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday near Sparks Middle School.

The officers fired several shots that struck the man, who died at a local hospital on Wednesday. His name has not been released.
