Fire District 3 receives training grant
CONWAY — Skagit County Fire District 3 has been awarded a grant that will be used to provide more life-safety response training.
The department was awarded a $7,524 Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Chief Mike Ray said.
The grant is one of two given by FEMA to local firefighter agencies and is often used for equipment or training.
The department initially applied for more in funding in hopes of receiving two new hydraulic rescue tools for the department’s two stations, Ray said.
As awarded, he said the grant will provide training in how to extricate a person from a vehicle.
The training will be offered to all of the department’s firefighters, he said.
