City and county must battle booze -- Jamie McCarville
I appreciate the State Journal’s continued emphasis on the out-of-control alcohol issues.
But the April 23 article about binge drinking, “Officials still binge cringe, ” didn’t mention the poor collaboration between the city and county to manage these serious problems. The county gets prevention funds, but what is there to show for it in Madison and the town of Madison?
Why do Madison Mayor Paul Soglin and Dane County Executive Joe Parisi tolerate such poor management of alcohol issues by the Alcohol License Review Committee, preventive services and the public health department? They should be collaborating to reduce crime and strain on public services.
