Jason Garrett discusses acquisition of Allen Hurns
With Dez Bryant’s contract impasse about to stretch into April with no solution in sight, fans are left wondering if the star receiver will stay in Dallas.
While it won’t mitigate concerns completely, the Cowboys aren’t barren at the position with the free agent acquisition of Allen Hurns.
Hurns agreed to a two-year deal worth up to 12 million dollars last week which seems like a bargain, and head coach Jason Garrett was at the NFL’s owner meetings to speak about the team’s new weapon.
“Just thought a lot of him. Thought a lot of him coming out of school and obviously he has success coming out of Jacksonville. He’s a big target, a very good route runner. He’s competitive, got a good understanding of the game and he’s been productive. We talk a lot about meritocracy in our building. It’s really about the merits. It doesn’t matter where you come from, it matters what you do,” Garrett explained.
Hurns’ best year in the league came in 2015 when he finished with a 1,031 yards and ten touchdowns.
