Fire roars through apartment complex, killing 1 person
A fast-moving fire that roared through an apartment complex in northern New Jersey left one person dead and heavily damaged some units, authorities said.
Firefighters responded to the Rutgers Village complex in Parsippany around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, and the fire was extinguished a short time later. Emergency responders then found the body while they were inspecting the damage caused by the blaze.
The victim’s name and further information about them was not released. It’s not clear if the person lived in the complex.
No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation but is not considered suspicious, authorities said.
