Minors: Allen’s hit streak snapped at 24

Austin Allen drove in a run on a sacrifice fly but went hitless in his other three at-bats, snapping his franchise-record 24-game hitting streak in low Single-A Fort Wayne’s 2-1 win over Bowling Green on Saturday in the Midwest League.

Allen’s record eclipsed the mark previously held by Sean Burroughs.

On Saturday, Ruddy Giron (.225) and Peter Van Gansen (.224) each had two hits and pinch-hitter Tyler Selesky (.350) singled in a run.

Right-hander Jean Cosme (3.38) allowed a run in 5 1/3 innings, while right-hander Corey Kimber (3-2, 3.38) turned in 3 2/3 scoreless innings.

The TinCaps are 56-62.

Oklahoma City 4, Chihuahuas 2: RF Hunter Renfroe (.317) went 0-for-4 in his return to the starting lineup and CF Manuel Margot (.313), 2B Carlos Asuaje (.324), 1B Hector Sanchez (.353) and LF Nick Torres (.381) each had two hits. RHP Bryan Rodriguez (4.41) allowed an unearned run in six innings in a no-decision.

NW Arkansas 9, Missions 7 (11): LHP Tim Berry (9.23) allowed seven runs in two innings in the start and RHP Yimmi Brasoban (4-2, 2.51) allowed two runs – one earned – in two innings. CF Franchy Cordero (.324) and DH Gabriel Quintana (.251) each had three hits and 2B Nelson Ward (.229) and C Ryan Miller (.217) each drove in two runs.

Bakersfield 14, Storm 13 (11): RHP Colby Blueberg (2.97) allowed two runs in 1 2/3 innings to blow the save after RHP Elier Sanchez (5.19) started the game with four runs – two earned – allowed over 3 2/3 innings. LHP Trevor Seidenberger (7.05) allowed four runs in 1/3 of an inning. 3B Ty France (.322) went 4-for-6 with a double, his sixth homer and three RBIs and 2B Kodie Tidwell (.278) went 4-for-5 with his first homer and three RBIs.

Dust Devils 10, Boise 6: LHP Will Headean (3-4, 4.31) struck out seven and allowed three runs – two earned – in three innings. LF Manny DeLeon (.250) went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and SS Chris Baker (.301) drove in two runs.

Padres 9, Rangers 8: LHP Logan Allen (3.00) allowed two runs in three innings in the start, his third during a rehab assignment (elbow). SS Fernando Tatis Jr. (.277) hit his fourt homer, doubled and drove in four runs.

Padres 6, Orioles 2: LHP Cristian Machuca (4.37) struck out four and allowed two runs – one earned – in five innings. CF Angel Santos (.255) went 1-for-2 with a run, an RBI and two walks.
