No Cy Young award sends pitcher’s fiancee into Twitter rant

November 17, 2016

When Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander finished a close second Wednesday night for the Cy Young Award, he thanked the people who voted for him.

His fiancee, supermodel Kate Upton, did not.

Instead, she took to Twitter to blast the results. She directed her comments to major league baseball, apparently unaware that the awards are voted on by the Baseball Writers Association of America.

Her first tweet can’t be repeated, but suffice to say it involved an NC-17 reference to sexual intercourse.

Boston’ Rick Porcello won the award despite getting six fewer first-place votes than Verlander, who was completely left off the ballots of two of the voters.

He had the majority of 1st place votes and 2 writers didn’t have him on their ballots?!! can you pick more out of touch people to vote? @MLB — Kate Upton (@KateUpton) November 16, 2016

Upton pointed out that Verlander, “had the majority of 1st place votes and 2 writers didn’t have him on their ballots?!! can you pick more out of touch people to vote?”
