Judge dismisses pair of lawsuits arising from Clinton emails
WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge has dismissed a pair of lawsuits arising from Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s use of a personal email server as secretary of state.
The lawsuits from the groups Judicial Watch and Cause of Action Institute are among dozens seeking access to Clinton’s emails.
The organizations sought a court order to force the State Department and the National Archives and Records Administration to recover emails from Clinton’s server. They alleged that government records were removed from the State Department in violation of the Federal Records Act.
The two cases, filed last year, were consolidated before U.S. District Judge James Boasberg since they were similar.
Boasberg dismissed the lawsuits Monday, calling the matter moot since the government has already been working to recover and preserve emails from the server.
