Charles Godt, 77, Cherokee Village, Arkansas
Charles “Ed” Edward Godt, 77, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, formerly of Baraboo, departed this life on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, in Salem, Arkansas.
Charles was born Oct. 5, 1940, in Dixon, Illinois. He was united in marriage to Dyanne Caroline Trachsler on Aug. 20, 1960, in Greensboro, North Carolina, and to this union four children were born. Charles spent his working years as a mechanic, technical instructor at all levels and a trouble shooter for several different companies. He served two terms as mayor of the village of Lake Moor, Illinois, and was on the village board for 20 years. Charles was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend and was of the Protestant faith.
He leaves to mourn in his passing wife, Dyanne Godt of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; two sons, Gregory J. Godt and wife Cathy of Cleveland, Ohio, and Brian Edward Godt of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; two daughters, Denise Stephen and husband Charles of Salem, and Terri Lyons and husband Bryan of Malad, Idaho; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, James Godt and wife Beverly of Canon City, Colorado, Richard Godt and wife Shirley of Beaver Dam, and David Godt and wife Betty of Fort Wayne, Indiana; four sisters, Glenda Olson and husband Allen of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Candy Ziemer and husband Ken of Yellville, Arkansas, Sherrie Lien and husband Douglas of Rio, and Melody Chapman and husband Gordon of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Dorotha Godt and Joseph Wright; and a sister, Gloria Guy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Rago–Baldwin Funeral Home, 520 East St., Baraboo, with Pastor Thomas “Tom” Dunbar officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Denzer Cemetery, Denzer.
The Barker Funeral Home, Salem, Arkansas, and the Rago-Baldwin Funeral Home, Baraboo, are assisting the family with arrangements.
