Crews finish work to light up interstate
HUNTINGTON — Crews finished work Saturday on the installation of new light towers at the major exits along Interstate 64 in Cabell County.
The high-mast lighting towers were installed at the interchanges of Exit 1 at Kenova; Exit 6 at West Huntington; Exit 8 at 5th Street; Exit 15 at 29th Street; Exit 18 at Barboursville; and Exit 20 at the Huntington Mall. Police used “rolling roadblocks” to close portions of the interstate as helicopters installed the towers in their bases.
The work was part of the Huntington Area Roadway Lighting Project and was conducted by the state Division of Highways and its contractor, Pritchard Signal and Light Co. of Scott Depot.
