Texas A&M 97, Bethune-Cookman 53
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) _ Shanne Jones scored 17 points and Calvin Davis added 16 as Texas A&M beat Bethune-Cookman 97-53 in a non-conference game Saturday night.
Jones and Davis were among five players to score in double figures for Texas A&M (3-0) in a game in which both teams substituted freely.
The Aggies defense shut down the Bethune-Cookman (0-2) offense, allowing the Wildcats just 8-of-27 shooting from the floor in the first half and 10-of-30 shooting after the half.
Meanwhile, the Aggies were connecting on 20-of-35 shots from the floor in the first half as they built a 53-23 halftime lead. A&M cooled only slightly in the second half, connecting on 16 of 34 shots.
Chris Richards added 14 points off the bench for the Aggies, while Jerald Brown and Larry Thompson contributed 11 points each. Thompson also had a game-high 12 rebounds.
Johnny McClenton was the Wildcats’ lone scorer in double figures, scoring 13. Marcel Seymour had seven rebounds.
