Train hits pedestrian northwest of Needles

NEEDLES — California Highway Patrol and Clark County, Nevada authorities closed US 95 between Searchlight and Needles on Friday night following reports that a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train struck a pedestrian.

Coroners were called to the scene around 5 p.m., with the train blocking traffic at the Arrowhead Junction intersection of Goffs Road and US 95.

Vehicles were rerouted and detoured through Laughlin and Bullhead City via Nevada Route 163 to the north and Arizona Route 95 to the east.

The road was reopened by 8 p.m.

No other details were made available on the accident on Friday night.
