Beverly Jean (Nispel) Malchow

Beverly Jean (Nispel) Malchow, 80, of Beatrice, died on Monday, Dec. 11, 2017 at her home. She was born on Oct. 7, 1937 in Beatrice to Herbert Nispel and Ruby (Moslander) Wood. She was raised from 3 months old by her aunt, Mary Nispel. Bev grew up northwest of Plymouth, attended District 76, St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran School and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1955. She married Armin Malchow in 1956, and to this union, four children were born. She moved to Beatrice in 1958. Bev worked for the Plymouth News, the Daily Sun, then Beatrice State Developmental Center for 17 ½ years. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice. Bev enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, putting puzzles together and watching the Atlanta Braves and the Cornhuskers.

Survivors include her daughters, Judy Huenink and husband, Nick, of Beatrice, Joyce Belding and husband, Myron, of Beatrice and Carol Cunningham of Barneston; her son, Timothy Malchow and wife, Michele, of Rockport, Mo.; her longtime friend, Shirley Johnson, of Beatrice; her sister, Shirley Hill, of Beatrice; her brother, Bill Schank, of Beatrice; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents; her aunt, Mary Nispel; her granddaughters, Angela and Jennifer Frerichs; and her grandson, Benjamin Slaven.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice, with Pastor Greg Gabriel officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Home Cemetery. Memorials are established to the family’s choice, with the mortuary in charge. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday at Harman-Wright Mortuary and at the church for one hour preceding the services.
