ARTS committee approves intersection improvement
A intersection improvement project at White Pond Road at Whiskey Road has been approved by the Augusta Regional Transportation policy committee, according to Aiken County Planning and Development.
The project was approved by the policy committee on Thursday and was approved by the policy subcommittee Wednesday, according to County department.
The action requires an amendment to the 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan and fiscal year 2015-18 Transportation Improvement Program, or TIP, a provided staff report on the agenda item states.
The project involves intersection improvements at White Pond Road and S.C. Highway 19 or Whiskey Road. It may include paved median/center turn lane along Whiskey Road, left-turn lanes, and potential realignment, the staff report states.
The document states a comment period is to be scheduled.
Costs outlined in a table on the report state SCDOT as the sponsor and phases and fiscal years as – PE/2018 at $350,000; ROW/2019, $400,000; and CST/2021, $1.25 million.
Total costs equal to $2 million with $1.6 million being the federal amount and $400,000 from the state, according to the document.
