Conviction, life sentence in SC double murder
EDGEFIELD, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina man has been convicted and sentenced to life in prison without parole for a 2016 double murder.
A Friday news release from the 11th Circuit Solicitor General’s Office says an Edgefield County jury convicted 38-year-old Dameion Edwin Thomas of Aiken County.
The victims were Charles and Andrea Deas. Their badly burned bodies were found by firefighters after flames engulfed their home. An autopsy found that both had been shot. When Thomas was arrested, authorities said he had been living with the couple for several months.
Prosecutors said he was identified as a suspect after video captured him driving the victims’ vehicle and using their debit card. The news release says a relative of Thomas testified that he heard Thomas state that he had killed two people.
