Sausage Showdown set to return to Beethoven Maennerchor
Get ready, San Antonio for some cold German beer, polka music and cured meats with a gamey twist. That’s the winning formula for the return of the second-annual Wild Game Sausage Showdown from 2 to 6 p.m. March 3 at Beethoven Maennerchor (422 Pereida St.) in Southtown.
The event, which will feature meats made with whitetail deer from more than a dozen different local meat and game producers, is being put on by the San Antonio chapter of the Stewards of the Wild. Competitors will battle it out in four categories: dry sausage, link sausage (served hot), summer sausage and jerky.
A ticket gets you samples of the offerings and the chance to cast a ballot ts for “People’s Choice” winners. A judges panel also will name winners in each of the four categories, and the overall champion will earn the “Grand Master of Sausage” title.
