Jan. 14, 1992: Gov. Bruce King on Monday proposed a $2.11 billion budget to run state government in the next fiscal year that doesn’t include raises for state workers and would cut funding for most agencies while increasing spending for education and human services.
King may address raises for state workers and other big ticket items in his State of the State speech Jan. 21.
The governor’s proposed budget calls for a $71.4 million increase — 3.5 percent — in state spending over the current fiscal year. The next fiscal year begins July 1 and runs though June 30, 1993.
