Celebrate Valentine’s Day at Camellia Tea in Edgefield
Nothing says Valentine’s Day quite like sweets and flowers, and both will be available at this year’s Camellia Tea.
The annual tea, sponsored by the Edgefield Camellia Club, will be held from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Feb. 14 at Magnolia Dale in downtown Edgefield.
This event is open to the public, and admission is free. Reservations are not required.
Magnolia Dale is located at 320 Norris St., Edgefield, and is wheelchair accessible.
The Camellia Tea will feature blooms displayed in an elegant setting and will offer refreshments such as sandwiches, sweets, punch and teas from the Charleston Tea Plantation.
The mid-winter afternoon also will feature music provided by local musicians, and camellia experts will be on hand to discuss the blooms and the cultivation of this plant so well-suited to Southern gardens.
Recent teas have attracted visitors from throughout the state, and have showcased over 300 blooms. This event is a continuation from 1949 when Edgefield was well known as a premier camellia growing area and, at that time, blooms were displayed at the home of Joe and Chrissie Holland at their Camellia Tea.
