Golf to Help Fight Addiction

TEWKSBURY -- Into Action Recovery is hosting a second annual golf tournament and BBQ luncheon on Wednesday, June 6, at the Tewksbury Country Club.

Registration for the tournament will begin at 7 a.m. and the luncheon will begin at noon.

There is a waiting list to participate in the tournament, but the luncheon is open to anyone who purchases a $20 ticket. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

The money raised will go toward Into Action Recovery’s efforts in addressing the opioid epidemic. Email intoactionrecovery2015@gmail.com to reserve a seat.


Meet the candidates in Groton

GROTON -- The Groton Democratic Town Committee will hold its Local Candidates Night on Tuesday, May 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Groton Senior Center at 163 West Main Street. All candidates on the May 22 town election ballot are invited to participate in the event, which will be facilitated by Robert Gosselin. The public is also welcome to ask the candidates questions.


Truth About Vaping presentation

TEWKSBURY -- The Tewksbury Police Department and the Tewksbury Congregational Church will host a presentation called “The Truth About Vaping” on Monday, May 14 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The interactive talk is educate and raise awareness about teenagers and vaping. Why are teens are vaping? What are the signs that a child is vaping, vaping side effects and more.

The presentation is at the Tewksbury Congregational Church, located at 10 East St.


Brush, leaf drop in Chelmsford

CHELMSFORD -- Free brush and bagged leaf drop-offs for residents will be held at two locations Saturday, May 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Residents can bring brush and branches -- up to 6 inches in diameter, up to 8 feet in length -- to Community Tree at 163 Billerica Road. Residents must present identification to use the free service.

Bagged leaves and grass can be dropped off at the Department of Public Works at 9 Alpha Road. Residents must use paper yard waste bags. Contact Nick Parlee with questions at 978-250-5203.


Volunteers needed at library

TYNGSBORO -- The Friends of the Tyngsboro Public Library, a nonprofit organization of volunteers helping to enhance the library’s services, is looking for adult and teen volunteers before, during, and after the annual Spring Used Book Sale that will be held on May 19 at 25 Bryants Lane.

Church service for drug abuse

DRACUT -- St. Francis Parish in Dracut will be holding a Mass of Remembrance for Hope and Healing of Substance Use Disorder at 6 p.m. on May 17.

The church is teaming up with Louise Griffin of Zachary’s Team, which is named for her son who died from opiate addiction, to offer the service to anyone in need or prayer -- those struggling with addiction, their families, loved ones grieving the loss of a loved one, etc.

St. Francis Parish is located at 115 Wheeler Rd., Dracut.
