BEAST TRAINING Wrestling Club of Danbury placed 20 wrestlers in the top six at the Youth Wrestling Championships Sunday at Hillhouse High School in New Haven.

It was an historic day for BEAST, which boasted seven state champions and 20 overall placers, its best results since starting the club in 2013.

BEAST’s middle school state champions were Matty Carrozza (70 pounds), Mikey Longo (77) and Liam Keppler (150).

The program’s novice state champions were Jayson You (65), Justin Shay (70), Matty Lopes (75) and William Smith (85).

“We created BEAST to be an elite club for all local wrestlers to come and train to be the best, and this year is a tribute to their hard work, travel schedule and to our coaches who prepare them,” said Fred Mills, BEAST’s Program Director and coach.
