Washoe County interim school boss bids for permanent job
RENO, Nev. (AP) — The interim superintendent for the Washoe County School District is throwing her hat in the ring for the permanent job.
Kristen McNeill told the Reno Gazette Journal Tuesday she wants to be a formal candidate for the district’s top post overseeing the education of 64,000 students.
The district has launched a national search to replace Traci Davis, who was fired on July 1.
A private search firm plans to begin private meetings Dec. 11 with groups and individuals, followed by a public town hall and virtual meeting for feedback from the community about what is wanted in the next leader.
McNeill worked for the district for two decades before she was named deputy superintendent under Davis in 2015. The board unanimously approved her as interim superintendent after voting to fire Davis.
Davis is suing the district for wrongful termination.
