It’s easy to support projects that others pay for
In your editorial you urge county officials to ask the Legislature for $12.5 million to revitalize Graham Park, aka the Olmsted County Fairgrounds. You listed many aspects of the project that make it worthy of state taxpayer funding. I’m sure there are similar projects all around the state that are just as worthy in the eyes of local residents and politicians.
Here’s an idea: if the benefits of a project are so obvious, let local residents who will directly benefit from the project pay for the project. It’s easy to support a project when someone else is paying for it. That’s how we end up with $300,000 bus shelters, $550,000 water fountains, and $1 million electric buses.
