Last chance — local ski resorts to close this weekend
But it’s not for lack of snow. There is six feet of snow at the top of Bogus Basin and close to 10 feet of snow at the top of Brundage.
That is enough snow to stay open into May. The problem is that the weather is warming and folks are moving on to other activities.
Not me. I’ve got one more weekend to ski. I’ve got the rest of the summer to do yard work.
Right now both Bogus Basin and Brundage Ski Resort have great snow. We are not going to get the powder that made February so awesome; but now is the time to work on the goggle tan and make some turns in soft spring snow.
You won’t have a problem finding a parking space or waiting in a lift line at either Bogus or Brundage this weekend. And this weekend is it. So now is the time to make a couple more runs. You’ll have a long wait until next winter.
I know what you are thinking: “The flowers are blooming and I’m ready for summer.” Maybe so — but come August when the skies are full of smoke from wildfires you’ll maybe wish for a little spring skiing.
And this weekend is it.
Both Brundage and Bogus are closing shop this Sunday. Tamarack already turned off their lifts.
Both resorts are planning celebrations to send off the season. See you on the hill.
