Mayor honors public safety dispatchers
Watertown Mayor John David has proclaimed the week of April 14-20 as National Telecommunicators Week.
In the proclamation David stated public safety dispatchers are first and most critical contact citizens have with emergency services. He added they are a vital link for police officers and firefighters by monitoring their activities by radio, providing them with information and insuring their safety.
“Public safety dispatchers of the Watertown Police Department have contributed substantially to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fires and treatment of patients,” he said. “Dispatchers have exhibited compassion, understanding and professionalism during the performance of their job in the past year.”
