Montgomery County authorities on Tuesday said they have located a pickup truck sought in a hit-and-run that killed a 24-year-old man in Pottstown Friday night.

The crash killed Donald Purnell, of Pottstown, who was walking to his 8 p.m. shift at a Wendy’s at Route 100 and Shoemaker Road.

Thanks to a tip from the public, a 1994 Ford pickup truck, which matches a description from a witness and has damage to its hood and other parts, has been found, the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office said.

The truck is undergoing a complete forensic examination and no charges have been filed at this time against the driver, whose identity was not released.

Authorities have said that after Purnell was fatally struck on Route 100 by a pickup truck that fled the scene, he was hit by a second vehicle, whose driver did not see him lying on the road, and who stopped and cooperated with investigators.
