Ohio woman found dead after being swept away by flooding

NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio — The body of a Tuscarawas County woman has been found, one day after she was swept away by flooding on her property, reports say.

Doris Jenkins, 82, went outside to her backyard to check on her goats when she apparently got caught in the high water, authorities tell the Daily Record.

She was found dead in a field a day later by neighbors about 100 yards from her home, WTOV Channel 9 reports.

A neighbor discovered Jenkins was missing when she noticed the door to her home was open.

Reports say up to 5 inches of rain fell Friday night in the New Philadelphia area, which is about 27 miles south of Canton.
