Misericordia Loses, Faces Elimination Track & Field

Jared Pauley had two hits and two RBIs to lead Texas-Tyler to a 7-3 win over Misericordia University at the NCAA Division III College World Series on Saturday in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Misericordia (37-14) will play Randolph-Macon in an elimination game today at

Texas-Tyler scored six runs over the first four innings. Graham Welch, Blake Maddox and Henry Sanchez each drove in runs in a three-run second inning for the Patriots.

Misericordia pushed across a run in the fifth when Tyler Holzapfel doubled home Sean Lyons. Texas-Tyler added a run in the top of the ninth and Misericordia scored two in the bottom half of the inning with Chad Bell and Dalton Emerich scoring runs.

Track & field

Elk Lake graduate Hunter Watkins of Mansfield University finished 14th in the javelin at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The sophomore’s best effort was 59.81 meters in his final throw.

At the NCAA Division III championships in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Abington Heights graduate Carly Danoski finished 19th overall in the 800-meter run for Moravian College. Her time of 2:13.53 is the second-fastest in school history.
