MIA to be honored Monday
A Carrollton man who died fighting in the Korean War will be honored in a service Monday at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The public is invited to the 1 p.m. ceremony honoring Clyde M. Carter. Carter enlisted with the Army in 1949 at 16 before being assigned to the Company 1, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division during the war. Carter was reported as missing in action following a 1950 battle in the Chosin area of North Korea. He was presumed dead at the end of 1953, and received numerous service medals including the Purple Heart. Carter will be honored with a marble marker in the public service, in hopes that one day he will be able to return home.
