Fort Bend high school damaged in Friday storms
As the effects of Hurricane Harvey hit the Houston area late Friday and early Saturday, one Fort Bend ISD high school suffered structural damage as several other facilities were left without power.
The district reported that Ridge Point High School in Sienna Plantation sustained damage to brick and roofing, according to a release from Fort Bend ISD.
The Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees will hold an emergency meeting Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Fort Bend ISD Administration Building in Sugar Land to begin the process for preparing all damage that school facilities suffer during the storm.
A more comprehensive assessment of damage will be conducted when conditions improve.
“The safety of our facilities crews is the first and foremost priority,” said district Chief Operations Officer Oscar Perez. “This morning, crews conducted a preliminary assessment of (Ridge Point High School) and worked to secure the building in preparation for the next round of storms.”
