The Greenwich Academy water polo team started its season in impressive fashion, upending Phillips Andover Academy and Williston Northampton on Saturday.

The Gators (2-0) posted a 13-5 win over Andover and topped Williston Northampton, 13-4.

Borden Wahl scored a game-high six goals to pace the Gators against Andover. Kayla Yelensky added five goals, while Sydney Heath scored twice. Kaitlyn Ganshaw added one goal and Casey Gottlieb made three saves in goal in the winning effort.

Against Williston, Wahl tallied six more times, while Lindsay McBurney recorded a hat trick. Yelensky added two more goals to her day and Ganshaw had a goal. Gottlieb stopped four shots in the victory.

“Based on the improvement in aggression between the first and second games the rest of the season looks promising,” GA coach Ulmis Iordache said. “We hope to see more improvement and intensity as a whole under the leadership of captains Borden Wahl and Camille Daigle as the season progresses.”
