Priscilla (Melby) Helmes, 79, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, at her home at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.

She was born Jan. 18, 1940, in Centerville, Missouri, to Lonnie and Audrey Sutton.

Priscilla leaves her son Mark; her daughters, Jane (Ken Wigen) and Ann (David Allen); and grandchildren, Shane, Haley, Ashley, Annah, Bryce, Hailey, Jonathon, and Kendra Jo.

Priscilla is preceded in death by her first husband, William (Bill) Melby. They shared many years of early life together and have enjoyable memories, too numerous to count, with friends and family on Isle View Drive.

Ray “Raybird” K. Helmes, and her final love, also precedes her in death. She spent several years living large in sunny California near Ray’s daughter and son-in-law and two grandchildren. She gained the nickname “Cilla” during those years, and it stuck.

Earlier she was called “Peachy” or “Aunt Peach” by her extended family and her first husband Bill never called her Priscilla; therefore she was named Pat Melby during those years. With all those names, no wonder she had so many adventures in life.

She is survived by her sisters, Lonita Schulze and Janice (Bob) Palmbos; and her brother Lonnie (June) Sutton Jr. They are a true family and she loved them dearly.

Her sister Sondra, and brother Mike, and her mom and dad are already in heaven awaiting her arrival, along with Bill and Ray, and a few dear friends. She will be ready to get to work cleaning and organizing everyone’s business up there; especially with a new and improved body to put into action.

Priscilla worked too many jobs to count and lived too many places to list. She owned Priscilla’s Platter catering and Cilla’s Solutions organizing business. No matter where she landed, she made friends, engaged in community, and shared her many talents.

Priscilla spent her final years under the incredible care at the Iowa Veterans Home. Mark, Jane, and Ann are grateful for the entire team who cared for their mom. A family ceremony will be held in Baraboo to honor and celebrate Priscilla. As an expression sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the Iowa Veterans Home, 1301 Summit St., Marshalltown, Iowa 50158. The family may be contacted at 405 NW Applewood St., Ankeny, Iowa 50023.
