Melvin Driver

Melvin L. Driver, 75, of Aroma Park, died Wednesday (April 3, 2019) at home. Melvin was born Dec. 13, 1943, Roy and Pearl (McDowell) Driver in Marion, Ky. He married Joyce Crays on Jan. 20, 1967, in Joliet. He worked as a painter for Federal Signal for 25 years before retiring in 2009. He also worked at A.O. Smith and Indiana Fruit Market in Kankakee. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing guitar and watching stock car racing.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Aroma Park; four daughters, Barbara Lee (Roy) Albers, of Crescent City, Bobbi Lee (Valentine) Wudarczyk, of Pittsburgh, Becki Lee (John) Becker, of Lowell, Ind., and Bonni Lee (Chris) Matuszewski, of Corryton, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Steven, Lucas, Andrew, Ryne, Anne and Kyle; three sisters, Virginia Yandell, Janie (Roni) Asbridge and Geneva Patterson, all of Kentucky; two brothers, Marvin Driver and Curtis Driver, both of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jake; one brother, Robert Roy Driver; and one sister, Ida.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley and Aroma Fire Protection District.
