Bridgeport charter school shows film, hosts discussion on stress in children
BRIDGEPORT — A city charter school will host a screening of a documentary that addresses how toxic stress can affect a child.
Viewing of the film, “Resilience: The Biology of Street & the Science of Hope,” will be followed by a panel discussion at New Beginnings Family Academy, 184 Garden St., on Friday, Feb. 8. The film starts at 5:30 p.m. The event is scheduled to wrap up around 7:30 p.m.
The film and discussion will address toxic stress children can experience and how a progressive education model can get students and families the resources to overcome these stresses.
Child care will be provided; children will watch the Black Panther and pizza and popcorn will be available. Another movie will be available for younger children to watch.
