State recommends revoking license of guidance director
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — The Vermont Agency of Education is now recommending revoking the license of Burlington High School’s guidance director.
The agency says Guidance Director Mario Macias faces numerous charges, including creating a hostile work environment. The Burlington Free Press reports the state says Macias “inappropriately” confronted a student who gave testimony to the state in relation to the earlier charges.
Macias, Burlington High School Principal Noel Green and other school officials did not respond to multiple requests for comment. Macias is legally entitled to an agency hearing at which he can provide witnesses and evidence in his defense.
His planned Oct. 11 hearing was being rescheduled as of Tuesday. He is currently on leave.
