Viviano Ties Program Scoring Mark As Blue Knights Trounce Assabet

Connor Viviano will have a chance to set a record the next time his skates hit the ice.

The Lunenburg/Ayer Shirley forward tied the co-op record held by Danny Baldino, scoring twice in a 4-1 victory over Assabet Wednesday at Navin Rink in Marlboro. Viviano now has 135 points heading into Monday’s regular season finale against Northbridge.

Nathan Handy and Gavin Cloutier also scored for the Blue Knights (13-5-1).

Lunenburg’s David Gardner broke his own school record and claimed the state’s Division 5 title in the 1,000 with a time of 2:35.40.

Joe Rivers took second in the shot put for the Blue Knights with a throw of (49-11.25).

Girls’ track

Oakmont Regional’s Alyssa Madden captured her third 300m crown in four years at Division 5 state championship meet at the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury, winning with a time of 40.70 seconds.

Madden was also fourth in the 55 (7.47) and part of the winning 4x200 relay team with Jessica Ciesluk, Rachael Law and Laura McBride, which broke the Oakmont record with a time of 1:48.21.

McBride took eighth in both the 600 (1:42.97) and high jump (4-10).

Lunenburg’s Nicole Lawrence took fifth in the high jump (4-10), while the Blue Knights’ 4x800 relay was fourth. Amber Green was seventh in the 55m hurdles.

Lauren Long claimed eighth in the 2 mile for Lunenburg and Camile Elbthal was eighth in the shot put.
