JUNEAU — A man who was let out of the Dodge County Jail on work release privileges and escaped was taken back into custody today.

Paul Digangi was arrested in Mayville at 2 a.m. after a citizen reported information about his whereabouts.

Digangi Jr., 32, who was returned to Dodge County Jail, is charged with felony escape.

According to a criminal complaint, Digangi left with another Huber inmate to go to Kaul Exteriors, 312 Milwaukee St., Neosho, on Jan. 15 and was scheduled to return that evening, but never returned to jail. The other inmate told authorities that he had taken Digangi to work but works in a different area than Digangi and had not seen him the rest of the day. Digangi also told the other inmate that he did not need a ride back to the jail, because a ride was coming to get him so he could pick up a prescription.

Digangi’s supervisor was contacted and said that Digangi was fired the previous day and was not there at all Jan. 15.

Digangi has been an inmate at Dodge County Jail since June 7 and had been going to work since Oct. 20. He has 137 days left to serve on his sentence after being convicted of intimidating a witness.
