Town to vote on keeping fund for affordable housing projects
NORWICH, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont town will hold a special vote on Election Day to keep a fund for affordable housing projects.
Norwich officials have been trying to get an affordable housing project off the ground for more than a decade. Vermont Public Radio reports the town set up a special fund to support developers who plan to develop affordable housing.
The fund has gone unused, and the vote on Nov. 6 is to see if there is still support for a separate affordable housing fund. If not, the money in the fund will be returned to the town general fund.
The town’s Affordable Housing Committee has been holding forums and trying to gather support for future housing developments.
