Warm, sunny Monday but cooldown with rain for rest of work week in Northeast Ohio: Weather forecast

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Enjoy the weather Monday! Today is the warmest, and sunniest, day this week, before a slight cooldown and days of rain return through Friday in Northeast Ohio.

Cleveland will near 70 degrees this afternoon, thanks to the help of an area of high pressure and surface winds from the southeast. The sun will last most of the day, but in the evening the clouds will make a comeback in advance of an incoming low-pressure system. That low-pressure center could push in overnight, sparking up scattered rain into Tuesday morning.

The low will continue to impact the region’s weather, continuing the scattered rain chance most of Tuesday. With a shift in the winds, and ample cloud cover preventing lots of daytime heating, temperatures will cool to the 40s to 60s.

A cold front will drop through the area Wednesday morning, sinking temperatures into the 30s and 40s. Thankfully, the precipitation that results from the front should stay as rain, not snow, since low temperatures will stay in the upper 30s.

A lull in the rain, except for at most a sprinkle or two, comes Thursday with a brief area of high pressure. Periods of clouds and sun are likely, and temperatures will range from the 40s to 50s.

A second cold front will pass Friday, but it’s noticeably weaker, so chances of rain are slight, around 30 percent. I’m thinking the day will for the most part be partly cloudy, with a chance of a passing shower. Highs will reach the upper 50s.
