More than 1,700 marijuana plants sized in Vidal and Big River

A 70-year-old Big River man was arrested and more that 1700 marijuana plants were seized Wednesday morning by San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies when they served search warrants on two properties, one in Big River, Calif. and another in Vidal, Calif. They also seized 19 pounds of processed marijuana.

The warrants were served at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8. Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement Team served warrants on two properties, one near the intersection of Old Parker Road and Citrus Ranch Road in Vidal, and the other at 149000 Del Rey Drive in Big River. Both locations had outdoor cultivation of marijuana taking place on the properties. According to a press release, investigators found evidence linking the two properties to each other.

Craig Schaffnit, 70, Big River, was arrested regarding the marijuana cultivation.
