Genevieve Ironmonger

Genevieve Irene Ironmonger, 94, of Baraboo, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Ohana Assisted Living in the Village of Poynette where she had lived since February.

Genevieve was born May 22, 1922, in the township of Willow, Richland County, the daughter of Mathew Mark and Elizabeth Ann (Stout) Ironmonger. She was a lifelong resident of Wisconsin and grew up near the village of Loyd where she attended school. Genevieve moved to Madison and began working as a prep cook for a private individual. She later, went to work for the Methodist Hospital in the food service department and became service supervisor upon retiring after 30-plus years.

Genevieve enjoyed bus trips to several states and Canada with her friends and co-workers. After retirement, she moved to Baraboo to be closer to family and friends. She was the last of her immediate family.

She leaves behind several nieces, nephews and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Genevieve was preceded in death by her six brothers, Richard (Ruby Shimmongs), John (Ardella Elliott-Roberts), Wilbert LeRoy, George (Hazel Revels), Clarence Lee and Oscar (Lavida Oler) Ironmonger; five sisters, Mabel (Roy) Solles, Hazel (Frank) Newkirk, Edna (Frank) Newkirk, Margaret (John) Elliott Jr., and Leona (Samuel) Cooper.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2017, at Rago-Baldwin Funeral Home, Baraboo, with chaplain Carrie Slager officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Upper Big Willow Cemetery in the Township of Willow, Richland County.

The family wishes to thank the compassionate caregivers of the Ohana House and members of the Generations Hospice team for the exceptional care given to Genevieve during her stay.
