Driver in DeKalb crash shows up in Fort Wayne hospital

May 22, 2018 GMT

A driver involved in a rollover crash in DeKalb County this morning showed up in a Fort Wayne hospital with injuries to his arm, the DeKalb County sheriff’s department said.

Just after 6 a.m., officers responded to a report of a crash near the 333 mile-marker of Interstate 69 in the northbound ditch, the sheriff’s department said in a statement.

The driver, Travis L. Ballard, 37, of Fort Wayne, was not with the vehicle, but was found later at a Fort Wayne hospital, the statement said.

Ballard told officers he had traveled across the rumble strip on the east side of the road and overcorrected, causing the car he was in to leave the road and roll over several times.

Ballard got a ride back to Fort Wayne and was taken to the hospital by a family member to treat his injuries.
