Frontier Conference announces shortened fall seasons
WHITEFISH, Mont. (AP) — The Montana-based Frontier Conference has approved abbreviated football and volleyball schedules for this fall, the league announced.
Frontier Conference football teams will play an eight-game schedule against only other conference teams. Each team will play two games against one league opponent.
The season will run from Sept. 12 through Nov. 7 and will allow teams to qualify for the NAIA playoffs, conference athletic directors and school leaders said Monday.
The six conference volleyball teams will play a 20-game schedule over a 10-week period from Sept. 11 through Nov. 14. Home teams will host the same opponent on Fridays and Saturdays and will play each league team four times, twice at home and twice on the road.
The shortened seasons were approved by the NAIA Council of Presidents due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fall sport student-athletes can report for preseason training on Aug. 15.
