Five Policemen Charged With Kidnapping and Murdering Girls
MANILA, Philippines (AP) _ Five policemen were charged with kidnapping and murder after allegedly torturing and killing three teen-age girls they arrested for shoplifting, police said Friday.
The five officers were identified by Myrna Diones, the only survivor among four teen-agers arrested on June 18 in a public market in San Fernando, 167 miles north of Manila.
Miss Diones, who was stabbed five times, said the policemen drove the girls to a deserted area where they were beaten, stabbed and dumped into a ravine.
Police said one of the girls was raped. Passers-by found Miss Diones unconscious in the ravine.
