High School Roundup Greenwich Academy downs Hackley, stays perfect
Greenwich Academy ran its record to a perfect 7-0, downing host Hackley School, 21-12, in a lacrosse matchup held on Monday in Tarrytown, N.Y.
Sophomore midfielder Margaret Maruszewski registered a team-high five goals with two assists to lead GA. Junior attack Eliza Bowman notched four goals and two assists, while junior attack Tessa Brooks had a hat trick with one assist for the Gators.
Junior midfielder Taylor Lane had two goals and one assist, while junior Grace Schulze tallied three goals to also pace Greenwich Academy, which led throughout. Junior Cate Spaulding made five saves and intercepted a pass in the winning effort, which saw Paige Lipman and Maddie Holden also tally a goal.
A convincing 13-6 triumph on the road against Saddle River Day School on Saturday, boosted Greenwich Academy’s record to 6-0.
The Gators got goals from eight players in their victory against Saddle River.
Brooks recorded a hat trick, while Maruszewski added two goals and three assists to pace GA. Lane and Lipman each tallied twice, while Schulze had two goals and one assist to also spark the victors.
Holden and sophomore attack Rachel Rogers each had one goal for Greenwich Academy, which received one assist apiece from Bowman and freshman midfielder Ava Butz.
Greenwich Academy’s win over Saddle River Day School came after it downed Ridgefield, 16-5, last week. The Gators took an 8-4 lead into halftime and also received goals from eight different players.
SACRED HEART GOLF
The Tigers teed off against Hackley School on Monday and posted a 5-0 win at Tamarack Country Club.
Carly Haines won her match at No. 1, 3 and 2. Lianna Amoruso was a 5 and 4 winner at No. 2, while Kate Hong took a 5 and 4 decision at the third spot for Sacred Heart.
Malika Amoruso was a 5 and 4 winner at the fourth position and Lindsay Benza notched a 5 and 4 win at the fifth spot.
Sacred Heart, which is 5-0 on the season plays FAA foe Rye Country Day at The Apawamis Club in Rye, N.Y., on Thursday.
