TACOMA, Wash. (AP) _ Alexander Mogilny scored a goal and assisted on another Wednesday night as the Vancouver Canucks defeated the San Jose Sharks 4-1 in an NHL preseason game.

Mogilny, the Canucks’ leading scorer last season, put Vancouver ahead 1-0 four minutes into the game and teammate Gino Odjick scored on a power play less than a minute later to provide a 2-0 lead.

San Jose scored on Vlastimil Kroupa’s goal 12 minutes into the third period. Vancouver got another goal with 16 minutes remaining on Martin Gelinas’ power-play shot, after passes from Adrian Aucoin and Mogilny.

The Canucks got the final score by John Namestnikov 61 seconds on a power play before the game ended.

The win avenged a 3-1 loss to San Jose in Spokane, Wash., last Sunday and came before an audience of 8,698.

This was the third NHL preseason game played in the 17,700-seat Tacoma Dome, which opened in 1983. Los Angeles and Calgary attracted 9,840 in 1983 and Edmonton and St. Louis 12,928 a year later.
