Fire forces early dismissal at New Haven school

NEW HAVEN - A fire at Wexler Grant School created smoky conditions in the building Thursday morning.

The call came before 9:30 a.m. of a working fire in the school on Foote Street.

The fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries have been reported.

Students and staff were evacuated from the building.

A decision has been made to dismiss the school early so the building can be ventilated.

WFSB reports that students were told to go into the auditorium and school gym to prepare for early dismissal.
