MCC to review bid for roof repairs
SCOTTVILLE — Mason County Central school officials on Monday will consider accepting a bid from G. Freeland Roofing of Ludington to complete roof repairs at the 300 W. Broadway Ave. high school building.
The bid is for $176,150, and MCC Schools Superintendent Jeff Mount said he will recommend that it be accepted by school board trustees.
The district also received bids from Great Lakes Systems, Versatile Roofing and J. Stevens Construction, and Mount told the Daily News on Friday that the bid from G. Freeland Roofing was the lowest bid “by a good margin.”
“We got a really competitive bid from G. Freeland, which is very appreciated,” Mount said. “Using a local vendor that’s right in our backyard is really a benefit to us.”
Replacing the roof of the high school building has been a project on the district’s to-do list since November 2018, when Superintendent Jeff Mount told the school board about leaks and other issues found during a post-installation report from Honeywell, the company that conducted the district’s facility upgrades and energy conservation of 2017.
The school board meets at 7 p.m. Monday at Mason County Central High School, 300 W. Broadway Ave., Scottville.
