Three Kankakee public safety officers recently were promoted within the fire and police departments.

Two firefighers, Lt. David Kruse and Michelle Holocker, were promoted within the 47 member department, and police officer Gary Tison was elevated within that department.

Kruse, a lieutenant since 2010 and a member of the force since September 2002, was promoted to captain. Holocker, hired in September 2008, was made a lieutenant.

Kruse, of Aroma Park, is a graduate of Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School and served two years on the Bradley Fire Department before joining Kankakee’s force.

Holocker is a Streator High School graduate and a Limestone resident. Prior to joining the Kankakee force, she served on the Limestone Fire Protection District.

The fire department has five captains and nine lieutenants within its ranks.

Within the police department, Tison, a graduate of BBCHS and a member of the department since September 2000, is one of 12 sergeants. The 67 member department also has four lieutenants and two commanders.

Tison is a U.S. Air Force veteran.
